I just recently discovered Jayne Ann Krentz and have been systematically reading through her books at a breakneck pace. You get mind-bending sex coupled with a scorching love affair, with lots of action and/or intrigue thrown in for good measure. And, in some of her series, you get the extra bonus of exotic locations combined with the paranormal. Wonderful mix all the way around and keeps me coming back for more! I loved this one, in particular, and was hooked from the first page on. I had gotten it from one of my library runs but decided I had to buy it so I could re-read it whenever I choose. Jed Glaze is one of those guys I would be drawn to in real life if he existed and I really appreciate the fact that Krentz had already built up this relationship between Jed and Amy before moving it, dramatically, to the next level. You really get to see the barriers breaking down between these two as they learn to trust one another not only with their lives but with that most venerable part of all of us...their hearts. You don't often get that in these types of erotic romance novels. Yes, there's a certain formula but Krentz always has strong women and men, not just fainting wenches waiting to be saved by and then ravished by the hero. That appeals to me very much and if that sounds like your cup of tea, then I think you'll find you found your next favorite author, too.Tags : A Coral Kiss [Jayne Ann Krentz] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Jayne Ann Krentz doing what she does so well. Good characterization, fun plot and suspense. I enjoyed this and will read it again in a couple of years.
This is a free-standing novel with the usual Krentz touch - a good story with bad guys, good friends and a treasure hunt. The parents like him but he’s in a rough business. Pick this one up for a fun read. Enjoy.
I've only read this book 4 times and I enjoy it each time. She's not "gorgeous", he's not a "super Model"...they're just two ordinary looking people. She writes SyFy and he works for the government. He's been taking it slow building a friendship first...until, he is injured and he turns to her. She has been having nightmares and is trying to work them out through a new book. Their relationship is changing and she's not sure this is what she wants.
I enjoyed this book and I have it in paperback and now in my to take everywhere I go, to read anytime I want. One of my favorite Jayne Ann Krentz books. But, I like just about ALL her books. I hope you do too!
Jedidiah Glaze is a covert government agent running from internal demons. Amelia Slater is a writer dealing with demons of her own. When Alpha Jed and precocious Amy become more than friends, each must help the other deal with their private demons.
The plot from this 1987 JAK is clich?d, but entertaining and well-written. JAK's attention to detail of the off-the-beaten-path island of Orleana and the emotional reality of murder and blackmail on the main characters is potent.
Amelia - Amy - is strong for a female character written at this time, though she does have bouts of feminine temper that remind me of the books where it was OK for a male character to threaten to beat the female.
Still, this work is a good read - and one of JAKs greatest early works. It's been republished, so check for used copies before you purchase new.
A good adventure story with two main characters, pretty dissimilar in almost all ways, who come together after a short period of acquaintanceship. What is her dark secret? - suitable clues given. What is his dark secret that means he returns to the village injured? What happened 8 months ago that puts her off going to her parent's house on an island? What happened 25 years ago that makes her think her Mother may be a murdereress? Why does he go away from time to time with no explanation before or after?
She is persuaded to return home, and takes him along with her. We are introduced to the villains - and get an inkling of the problems which lie ahead.
The mystery gradually unfolds, and there is a suspense filled section - will they survive a villain coming to kill them in a tunnel in a cave system ? - underwater to make it worse! - with two more waiting for them at the cave entrance!.
Of course they do survive, and all comes out well. In the meantime they enjoy good sex, as should be the case in a romance novel. Her parents are in no doubt that they are making love to each other, though, being sensible, do not let on - just enough hints given to show they know, and approve - Mother hoping, of course, for a formal engagement, wedding and grandchildren.
A well crafted book. Good plot, plausible, and both hero and heroine behave as any normal man and woman would behave - no "Deus ex Machina" to cover up awkward infelicities in plot or situation. Thoroughly recommended to all lovers of good writing, male or female - the sort of book that should win a Booker Prize, but would never be considered - not highbrow enough, and too much of a good read. For all ages who enjoy adventure stories - youngsters can - and will - skip the sex scenes as holding up the action (boring!!!), but all others will enjoy them as part of the development of the characters - they get to know each other, we get to know them.
A very early book from Jayne Ann Krentz - 1987 - but showing her mastery of good writing. Written before she developed as a writer of paranormal romances, but just as good.
